When completing a Masterpiece, students work with a partner to complete a three to six part performance task. They receive the information about the situation and the first question on their first task card. When finished, the scorer (teacher) determines if it is correct. An attempt (and if it is correct) is marked on the task card and students either return to their partner to fix the task card or they receive the next task card. Each task card that is marked as correct is glued onto a large piece of (construction) paper to create the Masterpiece. The students continue until the whole task is completed.
